JING Jing is the “essence” of life, and one of the three treasures of the body, along with Qi and Shen.Daoists believed that One is born with a set amount of Jing. During your lifetime you consume Jing continousely.By taking care of your body, you save Jing, by living a excessive way of life you use up more Jing, especially when overexerting oneself for a long time with stress, illness, drugs or sexual intemperance. It is said it is completely consumed upon dying. The old daoists believed that a loss of ejaculatory fluids is a big loss of Lifeforce, Jing.An excessive loss of fluids results in premature aging, disease, and general fatigue.Ge Hong, a 4th century Taoist alchemist said: "those seeking 'immortality' must perfect the absolute essentials". Keep the body balanced (yin and yang, chinese medicine), enlighten your spirit, circulate and nourish the qi, and treasure the jing, and send it up the spine to nourish brain to live a healthy life and reach immortality.
